Hi Rosalinda, This makes me hope for spring and the flower buds peeking out of the brown soil. I can't wait!
Hi Rosalinda, WOW look at all those roses! They are beautiful and I bet the air around them smells sweet!
Marian - I can't wait for spring. My rose order should be coming pretty soon.
Teresa - Once you step into that garden, the air is so fragrant you want to linger on.
Those flowers are very pretty, I can't wait for Spring to plant flowers in my garden!
Patricia - Every time I look out my dining room window, the garden beckons me to come out.
Rosalinda,
This is very nice and so fragrant - you can virtually "smell" the roses. :)
Steve
Steve - The Rose Garden at the New York Botanical Garden is one of the gems of New York city. It is a beautiful place and the fragrance is so wonderful.
Hi Rosalinda - I love rose gardens, and yours is a beauty. We had contemplated heading to Victoria BC soon, but decided to postpone until the roses would be in bloom.
Karen - Thanks you. Funny you said you would like to go to Victoria BC. There is a big rose convention in Vancover, BC in June 18-24 sponsored by the World Federation of Roses and the American Rose Society and there will be rose shows (open to the public), lectures and garden tours. If you can make those dates, you'll see all kinds of roses.
I love this photo and have a new found love for growing roses. We just planted out first two rose bushes.
Mindy & Jay - Welcome to the world of roses! I planted my first five rose bushes in 1980 and have not stopped yet. My order of 3 rose bushes just arrived today.
How wonderful! I love roses, but I have to admit I let them go last year, just am too busy doing too much stuff. I do love them though, so much. Thank you for the great photo!
Andrea - Roses are very forgiving plant. Cut back the canes until you see the white pith. You can cut down almost to the ground about few inches, and they will come back. Good luck and thanks for dropping by.
I'm jealous. It's snowing here!
Rosalinda - Beautiful flowers. Hope my Roses come back this year like that.
Wonderful photograph, Rosalinda! It looks like a beautiful place!
Debra - It is a beautiful place and plenty of things to see all seasons.
Great picture! Roses are my favorite of all~!
Renee - Thank you. As you can see, I'm passionate about roses. I also write articles about roses in addition to growing about 160-175 of them. I lost count after 100.
Beautiful! I wish I could walk through and smell them myself. We have several rose bushes in our yard, but not as many as we used to. Right now the Gardenia's smell so pungent it's almost too much to take =)
Lisa - I also love gardenia but we can not grow it outdoor in New York. I planted one in Charleston at my vacation home there. There were lots of buds when we left. I hope they are fine till I return.
Great picture Rosalinda; we are still too cool to even think about roses.
Terry - It has been cool here this spring. Everything is late by at least two weeks.
Rosalinda,
Very nice shot of the garden...
Thank you for sharing,
Ann
Ann - Thanks. It is one of the gems of New York. A great place!
ROSELINDA: I have to leave you as comment that that the garden is remarkable I love roses, too. Living in the city it is difficult to grown plants I seem to have fruit bearing trees and lilacs and violets.
Kathleen - Thanks for dropping by. Yes, you can grow beautiful roses even in the city. I belong to the Manhattan Rose Society and we have members leaving in those high rise apartment building and they grow roses on their terraces in pots. The key is good soil, plenty of drainage and try to grow disease resistant roses. They have plenty of them now in the market.
WOW! What a great shot! I love roses....thank you for sharing this with us.
Barbara - You're welcome! I love taking photos of all the rose gardens that I visit. This garden is one of the best.
Rosalinda, Wow what a great shot, I love roses , hard to grow in Southern Maryland with the bla sot problem . Thanks Barbara
Barbara - Have you heard of a product called Messenger? It is an organic product and if you spray your roses with it, they become immune to blackspot. You can spray it on any plant, even vegetables and they get so healthy and vigorous.
Hi Rosalinda, Thanks for sharing your photo. Have an outstanding week.
ROSALINDA: Thanks for sharing this lovely garden. I am anxiously awaiting for the flowers to bloom and and the new grass sprouting.
Douglas - This NY rose garden is so magnificent. Have a great week.
Kathleen - We have a spring like day today, I bought some pansies to start the season.
Hi Rosalinda-
Whenever I travel, I try to see the local rose or botanical garden. Thanks for sharing yours. It's beautiful!
--Sara in San Antonio
Sara - I do the same thing.
Rosalinda, the garden in beautiful!
Maria - It is one of the nicest places to visit in NY.
My grandma had a rose garden at her house all her life... So beautiful it was and I always remember what great care she kept it in.... Now, the entry to my house has a beautiful rose garden. Not as large as my grandma's, but nice with a cherub foutain.... I keep her memory close... Happy to see others enjoy as much as I do...
Lauren - Glad to know somebody has a rose garden. Roses on the West Coast are much bigger and grow better than the roses on the East Coast. I have a big rose garden in New York. Unhappily we just sold the house and moved to Charleston, SC where there are no snow. I'm starting a new rose garden here but much smaller than the one I left in New York.
Rosalinda, Beautiful picture of beautiful Rose's. Thanks you for sharing.
Rosalinda - wow those are some beautiful Roses... Didn't see this till today Nice shot
Roses are something I don't see much of here in Hawaii. I think they prefer a cooler climate, but sometimes they look great in a yard upcountry.
Rosalinda, beautiful photo. Love the rose garden. No time to grow roses....but someday soon. Thank you for sharing!
