LUXURY HOMES SOLD IN LAUREL HOLLOW, NY - JAN. 1 - NOV. 27, 2009

 

During the 11-month period from Jan. 1, 2009 to Nov. 27, 2009, there are 13 homes sold in Laurel Hollow, NY.  That's an average of just over 1 closing per month.  In addition to the 13 homes sold, there are 5 listings under contract.  During the same period, Jan. 1-Nov. 27, 2008, there are 18 listings that closed.  In essence, the real estate market in Laurel Hollow is stable.    On the other hand, there are 33 homes for sale in Laurel Hollow, NY on November 27, 2009.  If we stay at the same rate of sale without taking another listing, we have an inventory good for 28 months. 

With the strict guidelines from the banks, we do not know if all the under contracts will close.  I have seen few under contracts that never reached the closing table.

Fred - I believe because the area is not so big and also close to the water make it more desirable.  People with money still have money no matter what the economy is.

Lynn - Some areas are selling.  Laurel Hollow is a very private enclave and if people who can afford it wants privacy, this is the place to be.
