40-DAY SILENT AUCTION TO BENEFIT HAITI RELIEF. Christ Church (61 East Main Street) is hosting an ongoing silent auction (until April 2nd) consisting of high-end items such as silver, crystal, porcelain, theatre tickets, art, and more. The auction is open to all and items are on display (with bidding open) every day in the Parish Hall (just next to the Church). For more information, call 922-6377.
MUSEUM ARTIFACT STOLEN FROM SAGAMORE HILL. The National Park Service (NPS) and local authorities are investigating the theft of a 15-inch walrus tusk that belonged to Theodore Roosevelt from his historic home at Sagamore Hill. The tusk, a valued part of the home's collection, was apparently removed from the fireplace mantel in the second floor guest room of the house in February. A reward of $1,000 is being offered to anyone with information leading to the return of the tusk. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the tusk is urged to contact NPS Special Agent Jeffrey Pascale at 215-597-9978.

OLD FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULBS (THE TWISTY ONES!)? Drop them off at any Home Depot for proper disposal (they contain small amounts of mercury that should not be deposited into regular garbage pick-up). Changing over to these bulbs will reduce your electricity use at home and the office, and will prevent greenhouse gas emissions that lead to global climate change. Lighting accounts for close to 20% of the average home's electric bill. Qualified (Energy Star) fluorescent bulbs use up to 75% less energy (electricity) than traditional incandescent bulbs, last up to 10 times longer, cost little up front, and provide a quick return on investment. Please try to do your part.
