On entering Oyster Bay downtown area, on South Street, just past the triangle where Teddy Roosevelt statue will be erected, we have the newly constructed townhouses called Mariner's Walk.  These are fabulous townhouses, beautifully designed within walking distance to town.

There are 28 units in the whole complex and right now, there are 15 townhouses left for sale at Mariner's Walk in Oyster Bay.  The remaining units are listed as 2 BRs, 2.5 Baths with a price range of $589,000 to $735,000.  Right now, there are 15 townhouses left for sale at Mariner's Walk in Oyster Bay.  Mariner's Walk townhouses are all new constructions on three floors.  Elevator and patio are premium options.  There is also a clubhouse for homeowners' use where you can play cards, take advantage of the gym, or reserve the place for a big party for a fee.  For buyers who love the atmosphere of small village near the beach with the design reminiscent of the walk up townhouses in New York City, this is the place to be.  Call me today at 516-385-0584 to see Mariner's Walk.  You'll be glad you did.

Oyster Bay is a picturesque small village on a peninsula with tree lined residential streets, historic landmarks and beautiful waterfront area. The downtown area which the residents lovingly call the Hamlet has small shops, restaurants, hair salons, hardware stores, few banks, houses of worship of different denominations and several museums. The residential downtown area is lined with colonial and victorian houses.  Nearby is Planting Fields Arboretum, a New York State Park where there is a vast collection of trees and several gardens for your pleasure.  Oyster Bay residents also enjoy the amenities of beautiful Roosevelt Park with the nearby Waterfront Center. You can stroll through the park where there are benches at various spots so you can stop and watch the boats pass by.

IF YOU ARE THINKING OF LIVING IN BAYVILLE, NY, HERE ARE SOME INTERESTING FACTS"

Bayville has grown from a summer community with transient residents to year round residents.   People came here to visit and realized it is a nice place to live and decided to live in Bayville year round.  Bayville used to be a resort town but not anymore.  Years ago, the population was so small they had no mail delivery.  Residents went to the post office and picked up their mail   There, you met lots of people until they got mail delivery in 1960.  With the exception of housing growth, Bayville has maintained its small town community atmosphere.  People are friendly, helpful and more relaxed.  Those who have lived in Bayville will never want to live in another community.

If you love the water, it is a short distance to the beach.   There is a nice park nearby.  You can also go fishing at the beach near the entrance to Centre Island, a millionaire community of well-heeled residents.  It is a beach town since it is facing Long Island Sound.  The public beach is right across the restaurant row. Try "The Breakers" for a lobster dinner.  Bayville has the famous Haunted House and it is a great attraction during the Halloween week.

Bayville has its own library but shares the school system with Locust Valley district.  It has its own fire department.  Residents from Centre Island shop in Bayville.  Topography of Bayville is mixed with some flat lands, beach properties and some areas have slopes so there are plenty of choices.

On Saturday, May 23, 2009 the Incorporated Village of Bayville celebrated its 90th Anniversary with an entire day of activities from a 5K Run to a ceremony on the Village Green to a Field Day at West Harbor Beach to an evening picnic and concert.   Senato Marcellino presented Mayor Victoria Siegel with a resolution passed in the State Senate declaring Bayville "one of the finest places to live in New York State".

A time capsule featuring local memorabilia including a a letter from Mayor Siegel, a village flag, photos of Bayville kids, a listing of the Bayville Chamber of Commerce members, Bayville Auxiliary Police badges, a Bayville American Legion hat and other items, was put together to give future residents a flavor of what Bayville was all about in 2009.  The time capsule will be buried on Bayville actual anniversary date, July 17, 2009 and the time capsule will be opened on July 19, 2044.

Mayor Victoria Siegel summed up everyone's feelings about Bayville - "Bayville is a state of mind and heart.  Things move slower, the person means more and an awareness of open space is keen.  Bayville is the seventh day of rest.  It means barbecues, clamming, swimming, boating, ballgames, breakfast at the Luncheonette, enjoying sunrises and sunsets.  Bayville is the place where a Bayvillite never blows the car horn at another car in front of them.  Bayville is a throwback to a simpler time and a simpler life.  It's a safe haven where children can happily and safely play and everybody knows your name."

GREAT QUOTES FOR FATHER'S DAY

HAPPY FATHERS' DAY!  Here are some great quotes in your honor.

Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap-on-a-rope. - Bill Cosby

When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around.  But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years. - Mark Twain

A truly rich man is one whose children run into his arms when his hands are empty. - Unknown

There are three stages of a man's life.  He believes in Santa Claus, he doesn't believe in Santa Claus, he is Santa Claus. - Unknown

And this one is my favorite:

My sons and his friends used to play ball in my backyard.  I got horrified when the balls hit my roses and I would come out and say, "You guys are killing my roses."  My husband would come out and say, "We are not raising roses.  We are raising boys."  My sons and their friends killed more roses than you could imagine while they were growing up but my husband and I brought up good kids and they and their friends had a wonderful time playing at my yard when they were young.  They all remember that. - Rosalinda Morgan

OYSTER BAY CELEBRATES D-DAY

OYSTER BAY SALUTES VETERANS OF WORLD WAR II.

To commemorate the 65th anniversary of D-Day, the Oyster Bay Historical Society opens its OYSTER BAY GOES TO WAR exhibit with a World War II Canteen Dance on Saturday, June 6th at East Woods School from 6 P.M. to 11 P.M.  This event will honor World War II veterans which are dwindling in number, and also will benefit the OYSTER BAY HISTORICAL SOCIETY Building Fund.  There will be comfort food, live 40's music, and dancing.  Tickets are $75 each and include dinner, dancing and first rate entertainment.

American Legion Post No. 4 is participating in the Canteen Dance. They are sending a three-man color guard to the dance. Al Plumb is leading the color guard with Harold Havecotte and Nick DeSantis.  Mr. DeSantis is a member of the Canteen Dance committee chaired by Fran Leone.

On Sunday, June 28, at 2 p.m. there will be a Roundtable Discussion at the Oyster Bay Community Center followed by a reception at the opening for the Oyster Bay Goes to War exhibit. Both events will include interviews with Oyster Bay veterans who served during those incredible years. The exhibit will be filled with dramatic and nostalgic photographs of those challenging times.

For more information please call the OBHS at 922-5032.
